Sometimes children teach us so much. I find myself thinking a lot about the
sweet things that Brooks does, and the
funny things that Reese does. For example: I was getting on to Reese the other day for touching the treadmill. (We keep it unfolded all the time, and the key to start it on a high shelf. He couldn’t hurt himself but I still want him to stay away from it.) I said, “Reese! Come here!” He then said to me, “What did I say?” That phrase is what I always say to the boys when I get on to them about something. Apparently I say it too much! I thought it was funny.
Brooks has always had a sweet spirit. When I went to pick up the boys from mom’s house she bragged on how good Brooks was that day. I said, “Brooks, that makes me so happy.” He said, “Momma, and that makes God happy too. You know that the Bible says ‘Children, obey your parents.’” I just smiled and said, “You’re right.”
Sometimes I think that Reese is not going to have this same sweet spirit. I was wrong yet again though. Yesterday morning I was getting Reese dressed for the day and out of the blue he said. “I lub you.” Then he said “Kiss” and leaned over and kissed me. I realize that I need to seek out the sweet spirit in both of my children. I love them so much.
