The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Funnies

Reese Funny:

Reese: "Mommy, What would happen if you had no arms?"

Me: "I don't know what would happen?"

Reese: "I know....You wouldn't be able to cook. You would have to use a finger."

Brooks Funny:

Brooks: "Mom, what does 'Trans purple ball' mean?"

Me: "Brooks... I don't know."

Brooks: "They just said it in the Polar Express movie."

(this is me thinking for awhile)

Me: "Do you mean Transferable?"

Brooks: "Oh."

Great Weekend!

Brent seemed to really enjoy our weekend away. Even though the Braves lost both games (BOO!) we still had a great time. We went to World of Coke on Friday morning and then went to a late lunch at ESPN Zone. It was a guy inspired weekend but I had just as much fun. We even got to spend some time with some good friends on Saturday and Brent and I both agreed we needed to get together with them more often.

Leaving

Except for the blunder of me telling Brent where we were going for his surprise trip, I have not told him what we were going to be doing on this trip.

So, by the time this posts we will be on our way to Atlanta to go to the Yankee's game tonight and then the Red Sox game tomorrow night. Brent is really smart -and he says he doesn't know what we are doing, but I think he probably has figured it out. What he doesn't know is that so many of his friends are going to be at the games too. I can't wait to see what he says about the plans I have made.

It really makes you realize how much you rely on your spouse, because when I was making the plans, I really wanted his input too. Is this hotel ok? Are these seats ok? Reservations here?

I will post how it went once we return.

GO BRAVES!

Recipe

Amy gave me this recipe the other day that she had gotten from her sister Allison, and I have already made it twice. It is so good!

Mediterranean Orzo Salad

1 cup orzo pasta
1 can (2.5 oz) black olives (I bought chopped)
1 cup diced red bell pepper
1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

Dressing:
1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
3 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp dried basil

Cook orzo according to the package directions omitting salt. Drain and rinse with cold water. Mix orzo with olives, red pepper and feta cheese. Whisk dressing mixture. Stir dressing into the pasta. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours.

(Add grilled chicken to make a meal)

Hope you enjoy!

I have nothing to post about, I just thought these two pics of the boys turned out good.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week!

I love my job!

I love where I work, mainly because of all the wonderful girls I work with. We talk about anything and everything, and because of that have formed a tight knit group. There are not too many places where you can actually say the following phrase (which I did today) and no one think anything about it.

I said, "...Speaking of eating dogs,......."

Maybe I have just sunk to a new low.

Engagement!

I am such a horrible sister that I forgot to announce that my sister is engaged. I am so happy for Christina and William. They are planning a November, Friday night wedding. My mother and I also got married on a Friday night, so the choice of dates is pretty special.

I cannot give too many details away but the bridesmaid's dresses are about the color of this font, and each of us got to choose our own style of dresses. I LOVE THAT!

As my boys would say, Congratulations "S'tina and We-yham!"

Kid Funnies

I have been teaching Reese's two year olds Bible class on Wednesday nights. So Reese having his Mommy as a teacher has been interesting!

Me: "Reese, What is your memory verse?"
Reese: "Sit down now."

It is really supposed to be "Children Obey your Parents" which he knows!

On the way home from Bible class tonight:
Brooks: "Mom, How can God see everyone at the same time?"
Me: "He just can Brooks."
Brooks: "Maybe he just has really big eyes"
Me: "Maybe so"
