The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Slogan

I think M&M's got it wrong with their slogan.....
"Melt ON your mouth, not in your hands!"

Sweet Inspiration

The other morning at about 6:15, we were all leaving the house to start our day. Brooks heard a rooster crow from the neighbor's house down the street.

(Roosters? That will be for a future post.)

He looked at me and gasped and said, "Mommy, I will NOT deny Jesus!"

Evidence

1. Toys in the living room.

2. Fingerprints on the windows and back door.

3. Little potty in the bathroom.

4. Even toys on the refrigerator.

Yes, CHILDREN live here.

I have to remind myself sometimes that there are things more important than a spotless house.

Is my house "loved in" rather than just "lived in?"

Week Over

Brent came home last night after being gone all week, (including on my birthday.) I have to say, the boys were really good. We enjoyed doing fun things this week together.

Brent brought home a surprise for them and they loved it!!! It was the biggest lollipops I have ever seen.
Thanks Daddy!

(I'm just a sucker for that guy!)

Quick Funny

Yesterday on the ride home Brooks said...

"Mom, look that truck over there looks just like Dad's.......except it is a van."

Work of Art

Reese came running in the den to me today and said that he "made a smiley face." I said show me!

What? You didn't see it? Were you too focused on the huge apple juice wet spot on his shirt? (That was another story that involved cleaning the kitchen floor.) Look in the bottom right hand corner.

He was so proud! (I have to admit, I was too!)

***I had forgotten to change the settings on my camera so, these pictures are lightened the best I could get them. Once I realized this, the moment had passed. Oh well!

Full Day

We had a great time today at the Grand Ole Pumpkin Patch in Clanton. I had never been before and was surprised at the size of the place. I realized after taking taking 50 billion pictures, that Reese will not smile at the camera. Brooks on the other hand, will "ham it up" for anyone.

On the way to pick our pumpkins.

This was the first one that Reese chose. A little big for him.

Brooks thought he needed to tromp through the "back forty" to find his special one.

More Pics

The boys with their "finds".

Reese was so proud of his pumpkin.

Brooks got to ride the little train all by his self.

Family shot.

We had a great time. After this, we went to Artistic Expressions in Prattville and made an Autumn plate. I sooooo copied Kristi and made a Fall tree using Reese's foot for the trunk (which he SLEPT through!!!) and Brooks' thumb for the leaves. I hope it turns out as cute as the one Kristi did.

*side note-I had the girl put "Happy Fall Y'all" on the top of the plate. This started a discussion on the way home because I told her that it should be "y'all" and not "ya'll." Then mom and I started discussing it and I started to think I had told her the wrong way to spell it. In case you true southerners want to know, it is "y'all." (I had to look it up) :)

Now I am starting to get sore from the first of 3 Hepititus B shots I had this morning. Since Brent and I are planning on going to Indonesia in the spring, I have to start now. I had a tetanus shot on Thursday. I shouldn't complain too much, Melany gave me the shots, and it looks like I will only have to go to the health department for a Typhoid shot. What is Typhoid anway? Maybe I will look it up too.

Great Saturday

We started our day eating green eggs. (Sorry we didn't have any ham.) Reese asked for red eggs instead, which turned out to be a little on the pink side. I don't know what the boys thought of them..Brooks looks like they are the best things he has ever put in his mouth!!

Then I dropped off Brooks at his first school friend's birthday party. He had a wonderful time. While he was there, I met several fellow bloggers for lunch. We had a wonderful time and decided to do it again after the holidays. The children that were there had a wonderful time getting to know one another. Since Kristi linked everyone's blog from her blog, I will be lazy and just link you to hers.
Then we finished our afternoon by playing outside on the swing set. That picture is funny to me because Reese was not looking at me on purpose, but laughing about it because he thought it was so funny to not look at me.

Have a great weekend!!!!
