The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

This is My Father's World.

This is my Father's world, and to my listening ears all nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world: I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; his hand the wonders wrought.

Potty Talk

How many years will it be before my children will understand the following concept?

When I ask, "Do you have to go to the bathroom?" ....that means do you have any urge to go to the bathroom. Do you have any feeling at all?

When will they stop waiting until the very last possible second to run into the bathroom, just barely making it to the potty.

I am growing weary of my children telling me, in the car, that they have to go to the bathroom REALLY BAD! Every time I explain that if they have to go to the bathroom really bad, then they had to go 10 minutes ago when I asked them (before we got in the car.)

Sorry to those who are reading this and don't care about our potty situation. I just had to get it off my chest. No joke, I have had the same discussion with them about 20 times. When will it end?
Well, I do know there is an end in sight. I can't foresee having this discussion with Brooks when he is 15, but you never know.

Ramblings

I can't say anything in particular happened today. Brent is gone alligator hunting. As if once last year wasn't enough, he is gone again.
He called at 6:40 this morning to say that he, Justin, and Dirt got one last night and that they were guessing it was around 9 ft. Sounds like fun doesn't it?
I was already awake with two boys, (that don't know it is the weekend,) when Brent called. The boys are old enough now that I try to doze back off while they get up and play, but that never works since they don't know how to play quietly together, nor do they know how to play nicely together.
Brooks only had to stand in the corner once and Reese was only "disciplined" a handful of times today, so I guess it was a good day. It does make you realize how much you rely on your spouse when they are not home. My sweet husband usually gets up with the boys to let me sleep a little longer, since I get up before he does every other day.
I don't know why I was rambling about that.
School is going good. Brooks knows what to expect at school this year so going back to school hasn't been as life changing as it was last year. He was excited yesterday because he got to play with his "girlfriend" on the play ground. She is in a different class this year. GASP!!! I asked him if she was still his girlfriend and he said yes with an attitude of "of course."
Reese has been to his new school twice. He loves it. He just runs in and starts playing each day. I know that isn't shocking though, he goes at everything full force.
I am painting my bathroom. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but I am going from hunter green to white. First, the jury is out on how many coats it will take. Second, I know white sounds boring, but I will post some pictures when I get done because I intend for the focus to be on the accessories. It may all look terrible but only time will tell.......and time as in-I am taking my time.
Lastly, I will leave you with a question. Why is it that you can go to a store, try on a bridesmaid's dress, order that size, and when it comes in, it doesn't fit like the one you tried on at the store? UGH!

Rain, Rain...

Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

Love Is...

Love is when your husband goes to Wal-mart for you at 9:00 on a Saturday night to buy you mineral spirits because you didn't realize that Kilz primer is oil based, and not water based.

That is love!

How to lose your first tooth.

First, start by biting into an apple several times. Depending on how lose your tooth is, this may become too painful.

Second, wiggle it numerous times, moving it forward and backward, forward and backward. Repeat this step as needed.

Sometimes your dad can unexpectedly take charge of the tooth losing process. If this is the case don't panic.

Because your dad has stepped in, you are able to skip to the final step which is, "yank really hard." Works every time!

First Day of Preschool!

Today, Reese started his first day of Preschool. He will be going two days a week to a new school. He was so excited this morning.

I know this next picture doesn't look like he was happy, but he really was. (He had just gotten in trouble for not cooperating in this picture.)

Walking in to school!

He walked right in and started playing with new friends.

He had a great day and we hope to have many more!
