The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Evidence

1. Toys in the living room.

2. Fingerprints on the windows and back door.

3. Little potty in the bathroom.

4. Even toys on the refrigerator.

Yes, CHILDREN live here.

I have to remind myself sometimes that there are things more important than a spotless house.

Is my house "loved in" rather than just "lived in?"

I am so glad you understand that it is better to have "loved in" rather than "lived in". The days are short with children and you will have more days to have a "lived in" house rather than a "loved in" house. Play, play, play - and if they let you, rock those babies too! I am so proud of you ~ what a great mom!

Thank you for the reminder, Rebecca! Brandon's had to remind me several times when we first moved into our new house that we do have children living here so it's okay for it to look like it :)

I am just so impressed that you still have the basketball goal in your house! We had already put it outside by the time David was two. I just couldn't handle the flying ball in my house any more!! I try to remind myself that there will be a day when I will long to pick up their toys. It is hard sometimes when you feel like thay have taken over the whole house!!!

babies grow too quickly, so spend time with those that matter :)

Thank You!!!! I get so frustrated at times and wish and wonder why I can't keep my house cleaner/neater. I feel like I could do more or work harder. The truth is that is just impossible with kids so young and still be able to spend time with them. I get one room cleaned and they already have another a wreck again:) All of my friends my age have wonderfully kept houses but their kids are almost grown. I forget that.

I have to let go of that "Type A" sometimes. It can be so frustrating. But, then I think, would we rather have a perfect house and no Kate and Brooks? I think not!
