The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Happy Half-Birthday!

Brooks' birthday is in the summer. When school started I asked Mrs. K if it would be ok if I brought some treats for the children one day to "celebrate" Brooks' birthday. I didn't want him to miss out on the fun! So we decided to celebrate his half-birthday this past Friday.

This was Mrs. K explaining that it we were just celebrating his birthday. She then asked him which birthday song he wanted them to sing to him. Decisions, Decisions!

This was the look he had on his face while they were singing to him. I wonder what he was thinking.

All the children were involved in clapping along with the song.

Enjoying yummy Green Snowmen on sticks. (Long story as to why they were green.)

Brooks enjoyed the attention he got. He also enjoyed the birthday crown. (See previous post to see that it stayed on his head until later in the afternoon.)

Thank you Mrs. Kachelman for letting us celebrate being 5 1/2!

I still think it is funny that Monica is his teacher. Does she even look pregnant? It is funny how much that age loves birthday hats!

Okay - Monica is skinnier than I am, and she's pregnant. Is it wrong to envy the skinnyness of a pregnant woman? It just doesn't seem right.

And what a great idea - David has a June birthday, and he has never gotten to celebrate it at school. Cute idea.

It is nice having 4 different seasons....winter gets a little long sometimes though.

That is a sweet idea to give him a big day at school. Some people I know celebrate December birthdays in the summer, and I think that's a neat idea too.
