The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Crown Bearer

Brooks was chosen to be one of the crown bearers at the ACA Coming-Home game last night. This is an event that was started after I graduated, so it was all new to me.

Brooks and his good friend, and fellow crown bearer. :)

They both did really well.

On a side note, it was strange to be back inside the school. I haven't been in that gym since 1995. I showed Brent on the wall behind us, a picture of the baseball team that won State, the year I graduated. I felt like I was showing him a picture from 1800. I didn't know but only a handful of people in the entire gym.
It made me miss high-school for a few...seconds.
I do miss seeing my friends everyday though.
Ok, maybe I miss it more than I realized.

Going to the football game in October made me feel the same way. It felt like home, yet, I felt disconnected. When did they start doing a basketball homecoming? We didn't do that, did we? I miss chorus. Mr. T said we would and he was right. AHHHHHHH 10th grade chorus trip was still the best. I hope to see you in May for the 15 yr reunion!

I miss friends, too. I also miss the security I felt.. no real responsiblilities. I do not miss the drama, though!

Oh, I miss the security as well. And the innocence and carefree state of mind we had back then. And I'm with Carrie - I do not miss the drama!!!!! Don't you wish we could have appreciated it more back then? I do - but I guess that's impossible.
