The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Happy Birthday Reese!

Today my baby is 4. That seems so old!

We will be celebrating his birthday on Saturday. I keep asking him what he wants and he has said a Nintendo DS, to which I said no.
Then he said he wanted rice.
Um, rice?
I asked him probably 5 times what he said, and he kept saying rice. Then he added that he wanted cake. I don't think I will be serving him rice for his birthday.
He wanted a Star Wars birthday party. My children LOVE Star Wars. Yesterday at lunch, the boys, (Brent included), were discussing Star Wars and I just sat there. I told Brent if you had told me 15 years ago that one day I would be sitting at a table with my husband, and my two children, (who turned out to be boys) discussing details about the Star Wars movies, I would have thought you were crazy. I tried to explain to Brooks why girls like dolls. I told him that you could dress them up in all different ways, etc. He asked me if I wanted some Polly pockets. I told him I would have loved them when I was his age.
Then the conversation went back to Star Wars.

On another note, this is the last week before school starts. I am going to try and pack in some fun things for the boys to do. We will see if I accomplish this or not. It is so hot, that I would rather just stay indoors.

Happy Birthday Reese!!! I hope me and Ellie have conversations like ya'll, but it sounds like most of yours are so entertaining because they are boys!!!!
I hope you got to see the quilt last night at church!

Happy birthday Reese! I am with you on the Star Wars discussions. I have had to explain to Todd before why I don't like Star Wars. I still want a really nice doll house because I never had one. WHether this baby is a girl or boy, I will have a doll house one day! I may have Star Wars and balls everywhere else and that will be fine! Enjoy the last week of summer!
