The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Doctor's visit

I took Reese for his 18 month check-up today. He weighed 23 lbs 2 oz. I am not really sure how tall he is because we decided what they wrote down was not right. No matter. He was really good while we were in the lobby, but when they called his name, we got up and walked half way back to the room and he stopped. He then started screaming. I guess he just then figured out where he was. To make matters worse, the nurse had lost her voice, so I had to read her lips to figure out what she was asking me, while Reese screamed in my ear. Oh well, all in all he did ok.

I asked the doctor about his eyesight. If Reese is trying to look at something far away, he often turns his head to the right, and looks out of the left side of his eyes. He looked at his eyes a little and then suggested we got to a Pediatric Ophthalmologist at children’s hospital in B’ham. So we are going up there Friday afternoon for him to just check him out and see what he thinks. I am not too concerned about it. He may be just fine, and it just be his quirky little self. Otherwise, if he has to have glasses, then he will just have to have glasses. There are so many parents that have to deal with real medical issues with their children. God has blessed me with two healthy children, what more do I need!

The good thing is, when we get there it will take Reese a little while to figure out he is in a doctor’s office, and maybe that will spare our ears for a while. :)

What doctor are you seeing? It may be the same one Coop saw for his eye. You are a good mom for noticing that and getting it checked now and not waiting. Hope all goes well!

You ought to talk to Clancy too, Mary Reagan sees someone in B'ham also. He's so cute, it's hopefully just a quirk. I love me some kiddos with glasses, though!! :-)

I hope everything is okay! Keep us informed. Also, love the cute pictures and glad you made it through last week! I know how it is not having daddy around a lot. It sure is better when he is home!
