The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Eye wonder!

Reese is all boy! He busted his eye open on Monday. Melany was keeping him, so being the nurse, she put some dermabond on it. (I don't know if that is how it is spelled) We were already scheduled to see Dr. T that afternoon anyway. When we went to his office, we found out that it probably could use stitches. The dermabond wouldn't come off, so he will be "sporting" the funky looking eye until further notice.

I am not going to ask what is next.

Does anyone have any good remedies or products that you know of for scars?

Joey burned his chin when he was small and the scar stayed thick for awhile. The dermatologist told us to use Clinque lotion. It worked great. The look of the scar actually improved - just wish it would work it's magic on my wrinkles now!

Do you remember when Kate busted her head open? 15 months old. I wish that she could have done the dermabond. Strapping her down onto that board to put lidocaine and sutures... horrific. And, she still has a scar to boot. We did use Mederma for kids - but gradually got away from it. I bet that Reece's will end up in his eyebrow anyway!

You know Solomon has had multiple surgeries on his face and his dr. in Birmingham always has us use Polysporin. It is OTC, and should be located right beside the neosporin. We also had to use sunscreen everytime he went outside. A chapstick with SPF will work and is easy to carry around. His scars look great, so there must be something to it.

Vitamin E oil is supposed to work. They told us to do that after Chris' few surgeries. I don't know if it works- we never did go get it! Just the capsules you can take. Break them open. Good luck with all of that!
