The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

First Day of School

As so many others of you were going through the same experiences today, I found myself driving to a school that was strangely familiar and completely foreign to me, all at the same time. Today was Brooks' first day of Kingergarten. I had told him ahead of time that he may see other children crying. I also told him that he may see his mommy cry, and that I wasn't sad because he was going to school, but that it made me feel old. ( I didn't want to do anything that would make him not want to go to school.) He so sweetly said, "Mommy, you don't look old." Honestly, I did a lot better than I thought I would. The only time that I almost broke down, was when we got inside and Brooks said, "Bye Mom. I'll see you later." I wasn't ready to go yet, but we left.
He had a wonderful day. He told me of all the things he got to do and see, and I think it is going to be a wonderful year.

First Day of School Picture.

Walking in to school.

He was walking soooo fast.

With his teacher.

Have a great year baby!

It helps when the teacher is so sweet! I am glad he enjoyed his day. Letting go is so hard! One day we will all be writing about them driving and going to college. Time goes too quickly!

That's so neat he has Monica! I don't really miss Montgomery, but I would like my boys to go to ACA. I miss that they won't.
