The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

Hodge Podge

Recent funnies:

Reese: "Mommy, is it milk in my cup?
me: "No, it is juice."
Reese: "It's kind of like milk."
me: "What?"
Reese: "juice is kind of like milk"

Brooks: "Mommy why are all the elves short?"

Reese: "I smell hiccups!........Again! I fink I about to frow up in my mouf!"

Reese's prayer the other night: "Dear God, Thank you for dis day. Help me be sweet, and let me play with my sword tomorrow. In Jesus name, Amen."

Monday Brooks had to move his car at school, yet again, from green to yellow. Because I am trying new and different punishments each time, I told him he was going to have to write sentences. He was going to have to write "I will not talk" 50 times.
........His eyes lit up with glee!

On another note, I bought some bedroom furniture for the boys off Craigslist yesterday from someone in Montgomery. It is a bunkbed set that has drawers and shelves built into it, a dresser, a desk and a chair. I can't wait until we get it all set up. Brent is out of town, so it will have to wait. We are going to put both boys in one room, and let the other room be a play room. I was kind of leary of that at first, but Brooks is so excited about it.

There really isn't much else going on with us. Brent and I are starting to make lists, or at least mental notes of things that we cannot forget to take on our trip to Indonesia in March. We will be gone for a little over 2 weeks. For those that don't know, Brent lived there for 6 years until he graduated from high school. We will fly, or should I say take many flights, to Singapore and stay there a few days, then go to Indonesia and stay a few days, and then on to Bali for a few days. The boys will not be with us. I am excited, nervous, anxious, adventurous, and oblivious, to name just a few of my emotions. I can't wait to go, and I don't want to leave the boys, all at the same time. I am sure I will have many stories when we return.

I can't wait to see pics of the bunk beds and the boys' room...I've been thinking about doing that with our boys (especially if we have a 3rd). We have 3 extra rooms, but I really think the boys MIGHT like to share - and it would be nice to get all the toys into 1 room instead of being spread out in 2.

I'm saving right now for bunks beds too!! Glad you found some so easily. I want twin over full, so it's a bit difficult to find, but Ebay has really good deals on them!

I'm sure you and Brent will have a blast! Try to enjoy each other and not worry about the boys!!

I was wondering why you were going to Indonesia. Brad and I went to Mexico when Todd was little. I was like you, I was excited but worried. I had my brother create a will for us because it concerned me. Obviously, things were fine and we had a good time! I hope you enjoy yourselves!

I'm giggling at your stories, but at the same time thinking that Reese is such a good talker -- and a good thinker -- to be so young. You have two smart boys who will love bunking together. I hope you have a wonderful trip! How exciting!
