The South

Where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter; summer starts in April; front porches are wide and words are long; macaroni and cheese is a vegetable; pecan pie is a staple; Y’all is the only proper pronoun; chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy; everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed. -unknown

2 Completely Unrelated Things

I got to school a little early yesterday to pick up Brooks and had to wait in the car pick up line. I could see some of the cars up ahead moving up, but then the van in front of me just sat there. So, I waited too. I wasn't in a rush because there was no where for us to go. They hadn't started calling names yet so I just waited.
And waited.

And waited.

Finally, I could see them begin to call names, and the van still wasn't moving. So, I regretfully hit my horn. I didn't hit it long, just a short, "toot, toot."

Still nothing.

Then I hit it longer. "TOOOOT."

Nothing.

So I drove around the van. As I rounded the van, I saw that the driver was asleep. Lord, please don't ever let me fall asleep in the car pick up line.

Then, I was getting close to the "pick up" spot, but not quite there yet. In other words, I was at the front of the next batch of cars to pick up their child. I watched Brooks march down the side-walk. I thought, "Where is he going?" Then I watched him march right up and open the door of another Xterra. He quickly shut the door, and one of the other teachers saw what was going on and sent him back to the waiting area. I laughed and laughed because here is the funny part, their vehicle was tan and mine is black!

And for the other unrelated part of this post. We found this picture at my mother's house yesterday. It is of my sister many years ago. It always makes me smile and I hope it makes you smile too.
* I wish you could see better the Mickey Mouse flip flops that had already lost their ears.

How funny. I have seen someone sleeping in their car too, in the school line.
